National Lottery Heritage Fund Strategy Consultation
This page will be updated from time to time. Last update: 30 August 2022
1. Strategy Refresh
The National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) is considering its future strategy. As part of this it is running a consultation during August and early September 2022. The deadline for responses is noon 5 September 2022. The process of refreshing the strategy will then continue through the rest of 2022.
The HRBA will be responding on behalf of its members. We would encourage anyone with an interest in securing the future of historic religious buildings to respond, especially those responsible for caring for such a building or providing services to those who do.
The materials provided by NLHF consist of:
a) a blog by the Chief Executive
b) a choice of two surveys to fill in – discussed below under 3.
2. Responding to the survey
The HRBA is considering carefully how it will respond to the survey.
30 August 2022: If you wish to respond, you may find the following ‘NLHF points for consideration on OBJECTIVES‘ helpful. They deal with NLHF objectives, questions on which appear in both the longer and shorter survey.
3. Choice of surveys
There is a choice of two surveys.
20 August 2022. The shorter survey asks questions about the proposed new Objectives. The longer survey asks those same questions, plus additional questions.
Shorter survey
One survey is for those who are ‘interested in heritage’. This is described as a shorter survey, but it gives plenty of space for considered answers – there are six open-ended questions allowing up to one thousand words each, and an opportunity to upload a photo or video. We have extracted the Questions in NLHF short survey August 2022 so that you can plan in advance, if you want to.
You cannot save a part completed survey, but you can move back and forth between the pages.

Longer survey
The longer survey appears is aimed at those ‘working with heritage’ – the impression is that it is for organisations and those with deep expertise in heritage. NLHF have very usefully provided a print out of the questions so that you can plan in advance what you wish to say. They estimate that this will take 30 minutes to complete, but we think this is somewhat optimistic if carefully considered answers are to be given.
You can save a part completed survey.
Early in the questionnaire you are asked if you are registered for UK Heritage Pulse (this is not a requirement for responding).
